Growing up in Colorado, I witnessed the joyful legalization of Mary Jane. I saw people from all walks of life migrate to Colorado, either to pursue careers in the industry or to seek healing from the plant. I never feared being jailed for possessing something as natural as a plant. I observed successful individuals enjoying it, and I watched it break down social barriers.
While pursuing my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Colorado Boulder, was a prominent part of life. Most of my professors were avid users, and no one felt stigmatized or villainized for their appreciation of . The end of prohibition marked the beginning of a new, and much, greener era.
Many smoke circles have connected me with people from all walks of life I wouldn't have encountered otherwise. Sharing the green allowed us to put aside differences as long as the smoke was still flowing.
Similar to yoga, allows me to enjoy the present moment. Intertwining the two has allowed in depth, and unexplainable, recovery. Some might say it is a crutch, but I see it as a comfort- an old, and familiar, friend. A way to expand my mind in a safe manner, and sometimes even address the demons lurking.
As a flower child, I embrace my identity. It has played a significant role in my life and healing process, allowing me to view the world through a relaxed lens. I'm forever grateful for seeing Mary Jane in a positive light, and wish to continue positively experiencing the euphoria.
